The next day, the log appeared on his web page, replete with commentary. He was busily going after a Christian on the subject of Jesus’ use of the phrase “ego eimi” at John 8:58 (and elsewhere). One evening in early January of 1999 I spoke with rstamp in a channel named #apologetics. Hence, it hardly follows that anything one would have to say in IRC is particularly “polished.” I know that most of the time I am chatting with someone I am doing at least one or more other things on my computer system at the same time.

The log would then be posted on a web page, liberally expanded by commentary making rstamp look “good.” I found this procedure rather strange: most casual conversations are hardly worthy of posting on a web page. Over the months we’ve noticed that some folks (particularly, a man with the nick rstamp, i.e., Rick Stamp) would come into the channel, engage in a discussion or debate, and would then log the conversation. We began #prosapologian, our IRC channel, to provide resources and information for people on-line.
